Neither Here Nor There (The Waiting Room)

Neither Here Nor There (The Waiting Room) is a short film written and directed by young filmmaker, Nicholas Pallos.  Created with collaborator Josh Anderson, and produced by Megan Duffy, the film was shot in LA and Mammoth in early 2007.  All exterior footage was shot with DP James West on 16mm.  The interior shots were filmed by DP Bruce Cole in HD.  The result is a beautiful merger of film and video. 

The experimental short film was conceived based on a story Nicholas had written in college.  It is about a young woman, Alexandra, who falls into a coma after an accident.  When she wakes up, she is in a hospital gown, in a strange waiting room, surrounded by odd characters, with no memory of how she got there. 

In the end, Alexandra is permitted to meet with Emmit, the man in charge of this strange and surreal waiting room.  Emmit forces her to make a decision, the most important decision she will ever make. 

Neither Here Nor There is an official selection of the 2009 Santa Cruz Film Festival, the 2009 East Lansing Film Festival, winner of the Gold Kahuna Award at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival, and is currently in consideration for several international film festivals.  Please check back for screening dates & times.
